Week #2: August 19-August 23
WOW!! It's been a busy first week, but a great one. I'm already loving my time with these students. We worked on getting to know each other (I think I have all the names down!) and understanding class procedures.
I really appreciate the great attitudes, big smiles and kindness towards me and each other that I've observed. These are wonderful kids.
Please refer to the handout on our reading program (it's green) and accessible here: http://theb7robinsnest.blogspot.com/p/iread-program-information.html to understand reading expectations and rewards.
Students need to read at home 5 days a week, at least 30 mins a day and record it on the white paper they were given. It's a quick way to verify they are reading. This will make-up their reading grade in class. When they finish a book they need to record it on their tracking form as explained today. Please email me with any questions.
Again, we desperately need community sponsors to fund our awesome iRead program. If you are a business owner, know a business owner or want to contribute as an individual, please visit: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YsadT10z6S-TUJf63RFpxYep8WQw2bQina4GKA9i42k/edit
Thank you for the parent letters introducing your child to me. It goes along way to help me get to know your student faster. I appreciate the ongoing support and look forward to an amazing year! Please email me or call after school hours with any questions.
Writing Benchmark
Free Reading/Book Check-off
*Assembly Schedule
Code Phrase: If students tell me: "I read the blog!" they'll receive a Robins Reward ticket into our big monthly drawing;)
I'm passionate about reading and what it does to your brain is a BIG reason. Take a look at this!

Welcome to 7th grade Language Arts!
I am ridiculously excited to meet you!! I'm hoping you read this ahead of time as you get to know me, what Language Arts is all about and what to expect the first day. Know that you're in good hands with me. My goals are to help you increase your reading and writing skills AND feel safe and have fun in my classroom. Yes, Language Arts can be FUN and I work hard to create a brain-friendly, active, creative classroom.
First of all...
Please come to our combination open house/back-to-school night: Teacher and Treats Tuesday!!! See invite below. I'll be there to meet you in person and introduce to my classroom and expectations.
First of all...
Please come to our combination open house/back-to-school night: Teacher and Treats Tuesday!!! See invite below. I'll be there to meet you in person and introduce to my classroom and expectations.
Flexible Seating: My classroom will look different to you. I believe that different kids learn in different way, so I've transformed my classroom to have seating to help your brain work better and give you some movement.
For the first week, you'll choose a different seat each day.
On Friday, you'll give me your top 3 choices and I'll make a seating chart.
This will be your seat for the trimester. You'll also be in small "teams" where you earn points to earn a big end-of-trimester party:)
Please browse the PAGES on the right of this post. Learn about me, see the disclosure, learn about our reading program, etc. There is a lot of information, but take your time to familiarize yourself with the blog. I do weekly posts, put up photos, etc. You don't need to print off anything, I'll give you all the forms you need, AND a composition book (it will be your Reader/Writer notebook) when school starts.
For real, this will be your BEST year yet of school (and most certainly in Language Arts!). Please email me with questions and I'll see you on Tuesday.
*click on the logo on the right to access our school webpage. There is very important information there, so be sure to pay it a visit.
