Welcome Class 2013/2014

Welcome Class 2013/2014!  I am so very excited to welcome each of you to my class when school begins on August 14th. 

I love teaching and I can't wait to get to know each one of you and see you progress and grow throughout the year.  Please know that I will always be in your corner and will do everything in my power in help you succeed.  I am optimistic that every student can do well in my class and I've got the tools to help each student do their very best.

I use the blog as a resource and as method of communication  so please feel free to explore the blog and visit it frequently for updates. I'll post a weekly schedule every Friday and send an email reminder, so watch for that.   You can also learn more about me (see "About Mrs. Robins").  As a parent of a 7th grader myself,  I understand the importance of having contact with teachers.  I can be reached by email (rachel.robins@washk12.org) or by phone at Lava Ridge, (435) 652-4742, or we can schedule a time to meet before or after school.

My team and I are fully aligned to the Common Core Standards and the overarching focus of our Language Arts Curriculum is to teach students to critically think and gain knowledge and skills that can transfer to multiple parts of a student's life.  I believe that I can teach higher-level concepts in a way that is fun and engaging.  I am passionate about Language Arts and I have a blast teaching and love to get students excited about learning too!

I'm happy to offer a text-blast option through Remind 101.  This is a secure service, created for teachers to send mass texts to students and parents.  I will use text-blasts only for important class reminders.  If you are interested, simply text @mrsrobinsl to (435) 275-4719.   

I'm looking forward to meeting my students soon and invite students and families to visit the Open House at Lava Ridge on Thursday, August 8th and our Back-to-School night on Tuesday, August 20th.
