This is my favorite activity of the year! Students sit across from other students (rotating partners) to talk about their favorite book. An entire class period of talking about books...a teacher's dream! It's fun, engaging and students get an eye on good books their peers are reading!

February 6, 2019 Engineering Day!

Mrs. Lund, Mrs. Warby and Mrs. Robins come together to watch students, using Darwin's Gallegos Finch findings, create the best beak for birds. Props to Mrs. Lund for making the magic happen!

October 31, 2018 What do you get when you mix students from Mrs. Robins, Mrs. Lund and Mrs. Warby on Halloween, solving the problem of cleaning up after an oil spill?? You get a well planned Engineering Day and a whole lot of FUN!!!

February 2017

The students had a great opportunity to enjoy spending time with Ms. Sharon Kim, a Korean intern who visited our class for the last 10 days. Ms. Kim was great to be involved and on her last day taught students how to make origami helicopters and the Honors class enjoyed making traditional Korean shoes while learning about culture. It was a unique opportunity to learn about another country and for Ms. Kim to see how the American education system works. She loved being around the students and we thank her for all her help & wish her all the best as she pursues her teaching degree.

Valentine's Day 2017

We had so much fun today! We did "Speed Dating: Book Style" where students were paired with various partners to talk about their favorite books. There was book talking and laughing all class period! What a fun way to celebrate love...for books!

9/18: Today we practiced identifying transition words by placing green, yellow or red candies on a passage. This helps the students recognize the type and function of specific transition words...and it was FUN!

This was an amazingly unique opportunity to be filmed for Edivate (a professional development/evaluation site for teachers). I just couldn't be any prouder of my 6th period Honors classes. I do a "Random Student of the Week" Spotlight to help students get to know each other better. I had a fun idea to take pics of student with a mustache sticker which I'll put on a bulletin board. Reasons to Live

It has been agonizing to have 2 of my students pass away this year and to see so many students struggle in the aftermath. Inspired by a YouTube Video on "100 Reasons to Live"--our Language Arts team had students bring a picture and write their 24 Reasons to Live and give their project as a gift to their parents/grandparents. I was so touched with what the kids wrote.

Argumentation Projects

I was pretty impressed with the quality of final projects for our Argumentation Unit where students researched and argued for their favorite M & M. I have THE most amazing 7th graders in the world! Unfortunately, I don't have all the PowerPoints/Prezi projects too but the essays & posters are pretty cool!

This team was amazing during 3rd period. They were the only group to complete their project! Jared, from our class, was an integral part of the team. In fact, you can only see his yellow shirt because he was so hard at work! Go Jared!

Here is Emily S., on the far left, you can't see it but she drew a beautiful representation of "Where the Red Fern Grows." She is one talented girl--I told her I'd hang it in my house!

The 5th period female dream team: Grace, Jessika, Tori and Kay from my class were part of the ONLY all-girl team! They created a beautiful film reel, of course they did!
