Week #32 Text Structures and Explanatory Essay

What a fun week as we practiced solid reading skills and did a discovery learning activity about text structures. I'm so proud of the hard work students put into what the do in class. They are fantastic learners! Yes, SAGE prep is in full swing and I am looking forward to the kids rocking the test and doing their very best to show what they've learned throughout the year.

Students did a fantastic job on text structure posters and presentations!

Fun group activity--inside when it was too cold and outside when it warmed up. Sometimes you just need a change of scenery to facilitate learning.

BIG CONGRATS to 2nd period Honors who rose to the challenge by 100% of students earning A's last trimester. They enjoyed a pizza party on Tuesday. Thanks for your hard work guys!!

CONGRATULATIONS to Maycee Williams...the newest member of the iRead 40 Club!!! Woot!!

Keep up the reading at home--we'll have limited class time for the next couple weeks up until testing. Please contact me with questions or concerns.

Week 30: Superhero Argumentative Writing Continues

Week 30?!? 10 more weeks of school left? I can't believe the year is going so fast. It has been a remarkable week. Teaching argumentative writing isn't easy. I learned about teaching writing in a slightly different way last week at the conference I attended and am excited to announce that it was very successful! I'm so proud of how students buckled down, dug deep and got out some solid writing. They were also so thoughtful and respectful when I lost my voice earlier in the week due to laryngitis. What awesome kids! Writing will continue this week, see the details below.
