Week 40: I Guess This Is Goodbye:)

It's been a wonderful year. A challenging year for me in a lot of ways, but a fantastic year of teaching some pretty amazing students. I know you won't remember everything I've taught you, but I hope you'll remember how you felt in my classroom: valued, empowered and loved. I'm so proud of all of you as you stretched yourself, grew and really did your best in my classroom. I'll never forget the tremendous outpouring of support from students and parents alike in December when I was hospitalized with my MS diagnosis. I'm forever grateful. So, I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for trying when it was hard, thank you for reading more than you ever have, thank you for writing essays until you wanted to throw your Chromebook at me. Thanks for your laughs, smiles, kind words and respect. Thank you for making me love coming to school every day! Now, go forth to middle school with confidence! Please believe in yourself, push yourself and look forward with your eyes on your future hopes and dreams. Say hi when you see me around town and forgive me if it takes a minute to recall your name (heck, I've taught 750 of you now), but I'll never forget your face and I won't forget the impact you've had on my life!
Love,
Mrs. Robins

"The Lottery" Film to Short Story Assignment

If you missed Wednesday, May 17th (1, 2, 4, 5) or Thursday: please do this assignment by Friday, May 19th! You'll need the yellow paper from class to complete the assignment.

Read "The Lottery" on Google Classroom (if you haven't already)

Watch "The Lottery" Short Film

Now, get the yellow sheet. Write the main parts of the plot from the story on the story side and the main points of the plot from the film on the film side. I'll want to see 7 or 8 main plot points. Then, turn paper to the back and write a paragraph or two about which is better, the story or film? Thanks!

Week 39...the End is Nigh!

The end of the school year is almost here! It's been such an amazing year: I'll do my farewell next week. I will miss these guys!
Lots of fun stuff this week and LOTS of deadlines. Please carefully read through the schedule and let me know if you have questions.
Every year I have students fill out a Random Student form. I spotlight them and take a silly picture that they can keep to remember their 7th grade year. See the photos here: Click Here I then send an email to parents and students telling them specifically what I loved about them! Please keep an eye on your email. It's a fun tradition I have to let all my 160 students know what an impact they've had on my life.
Thanks again for the ongoing support. Let's finish strong!
