Week 3: August 22-August 26...Plot!

The first full week of school is behind us and it was a fantastic week! I've got the names down and really am loving every minute with these students. Their excitement is palatable and they are just so fun--it's going to be a fantastic year!

We've worked on procedures and getting-to-know-you activities, now it's time to launch into the good stuff! We will be learning about the plot chart cycle with different mediums, including film (Pixar shorts), children's book and short stories. We've finished benchmarks and I'm getting a good snapshot of where students are, which will drive my instruction.

I'm happy to have book orders available for students to build their own home libraries. Scholastic also sends books to me that I can give away each month or add to my library. If interested, students can send checks or cash or order online here: Scholastic Book Order Book orders are due this Friday, August 26th.

Our iRead program is a powerful program that promotes reading. I sent a form home with the students and emailed parents, but we are still gathering donations from sponsors for the iRead shirts. Any contribution is much appreciated. If you need to access the form, you can find it here: iRead Support Letter

Thanks for the encouragement and support, it's a privilege, and just plain fun, to be with your student each day! Please email me if you have questions or concerns at rachel.robins@washk12.org/435-652-4742
