Week 33: All About Reading and Writing

I've thought a lot this week about how the students were reading and writing in August verses now, and I've seen some great improvement. I'm excited to see them understand a wide variety of text and critically think. My goal is to prepare them for 8th grade as well as our state test. Improved reading and writing happens when taught in tandem, so the focus this week is merging reading and writing skills, both individually and in small groups. As a department, we are searching for relevant text that will be interesting to students. It should be a fun week!

Remember that students are required to read at least 30 minutes, at least 5 days a week. It's been really fun to start to see students go above and beyond and reach 40 iREad Club status! This great achievement comes with a cool t-shirt, candy bar and entry into our 40 Club party at the end of the school year. Keep up the great reading!

Language Arts Reading will be April 19th-April 21st and Language Arts Writing will be May 1st-May 5th.

As always, I am your partner in your student's education and happy to help! Please contact me at rachel.robins@washk12.org or call after school hours at 435-652-4742. Thank you and have a great week!
