Weeks 36 and 37: SAGE Writing, Parts I and II

I'm so proud of students for doing such a fantastic job on their Reading SAGE. We won't see scores until after writing is complete, but they tried hard, set attainable goals and gave it their best. I'm proud of them. I do try to make testing fun by wearing goofy shirts, have motivational themes each day and feeding them a little. I know testing isn't easy, but they tried, and I so appreciate it!

To make things easier for students, we are breaking up the SAGE Writing Test to look the following way:

April 24-25: Review for writing

April 26-28: SAGE Writing, 1st essay

May 1-2: Review for writing

May 3-5: SAGE Writing, 2nd essay

The reviews will consist of: breaking down prompts, deciding the validity of  a claim/thesis, determining if an essay is argumentative or explanatory, practicing organizational foldables, looking for cue words in prompts, etc. The reviews will be relevant, fun, engaging and the best prep I can give them. Please make sure your child is in school.

After testing is complete, we'll have our end-of-testing Waffle Party! I'm super-excited for the rest of the school year. We will be reading a novel, writing a letter they'll receive when they graduate, and writing a persuasive letter to a business. Fun stuff!
