I Guess This Is Goodbye:) Last Post for 2018

It's been a fantastic year. My heart is full of love for these students and I wish them the very best as they move on to the 8th grade. I really try to focus on the individual, so I spotlight them, write a nice note on the pictures and email students/parents to let them know how each student has sincerely impacted me. I'm so proud of all of them! Thank you for making my school year so marvelous!

Our iRead 40 Club party was AMAZING!!!!! Click here to see pictures. All my thanks to our generous sponsors, our supportive administrators and faculty and wonderful parents who came to help operate the party. The iRead program is a massive undertaking and we could not have done it without your help!

A few reminders for this upcoming week:
  • Yes, students still need to attend school. Please come for all the fun that happens in the last few days!
  • If you signed up to bring waffle supplies, please bring them.
  • Double-check your house and see if you have any of my books. I am missing a lot this year.
  • Pay attention to daily announcements, so you know what is expected at school each day, when to bring backpacks, when school is out, etc.

Ok, trying not to teary until next week, but man I've enjoyed these students and we're having a great stretch until the end of school!

Here is what I have planned...remember to check your emails as I do email every student and parents about what I have enjoyed about their child. I also spotlight each student at the end of the year & hang their picture up with a note. They'll bring home the picture the last days of school.

Week #38: Literature Circles Wrap Up!

It's been such a fun week as we have explored our novels in literature circle groups! I've included some pictures below of our Literature Discussion groups, literary yoga, etc. It's been fun to see students engage in deep discussions, talk about what they are reading & have moment and fun in the classroom. Oh, I am going to miss these guys!

Important information about what's coming up this week:

Our iRead party will be on Wednesday, May 16th. I'll allow students to qualify until Tuesday, May 15th. However, all permission slips (even if they think they will qualify) need to be handed in this Friday as stated below.

If students didn't get a permission slip today, they will on Monday. We also need parent volunteers and would love to have you help us out at the party!

One of my annual end-of-school-year traditions is to spotlight each student, take a picture & leave them a note (they'll pick it up the last day of school). I also email parents to tell them the great things about their student I've appreciated--keep an eye on your email.

We are encouraging students to work hard to be able to join us at the May 22nd giant 7th grade party. To qualify, students need: all passing grades, no excessive absences or tardies, and no office referrals. The party is a blast and the faculty and staff's way to send them off to middle school. Please encourage students to continue to push hard and finish strong.

Honors: May blog post and a May Writing Contest are due by May 18th.
