Week 5 Outline

It's been such a great school year, I hope the students are enjoying our classes as much as I am!  This will be the concluding week of our Book-to-Film Unit.  I feel the students are getting a good grasp on critical thinking through comparing and contrasting book and film media.  I'll walk students through more book/film compare and contrast activities as well as give them time in class to work on their Book Reports.  

Encourage your student to finish reading their book and watch the movie based on their book.  
Remember the Book-to-Film Book Report is due September 26th, but I'll reward early work with an extra entry into the Monthly Drawing.  The Book Report will need to have the following parts included, I'll be sure to give the students all they need:

Front: Book-to-Film Book Report Rubric
Middle: The Book-to-Film Book Report Form (we are making it in class)
Back: The Pre-Writing Venn Diagrams (4 total on 2 papers they will get in class)

This Friday is the Language Arts Super Gecko Day for all students!  Super Gecko Days only occur twice a year for each department, so be sure your student is in attendance on Friday.  We will be hosting Richard Paul Evans' "Michael Vey" Book Tour during periods 1 & 2.  Language Arts students will be excused from their regular classes to attend.  During Periods 3, 5 and 6, students will participate in Film Reel Fun!
